01
Can you play How to Fish solo?
Yes. Steam lists both single-player and online co-op, and the official player range starts at one. That confirms access to solo play—not that solo is easier, harder, or the “best” way to play.
02
How many players can join?
The official maximum is four players. Reports of only two or three people successfully entering a session describe a joining problem; they do not reduce the supported maximum.
Build your session around a maximum of four total players, including the host.
03
What is actually confirmed about co-op?
Confirmed
- Online co-op is supported.
- One to four players are supported.
- Single-player is also available.
Not confirmed in this guide
- Shared quest or save progress
- Host migration or dedicated servers
- Cross-play or local split-screen
- Exact lobby and friend-invite steps
04
Having trouble joining friends?
Shortly after launch, some players reported black screens, session mismatches, crashes, or only two or three people getting into a session. We did not find a universal fix that is safe to promise.
Looking for lobby steps?
The lobby flow can change with updates, so this page does not give menu-by-menu invite instructions yet. A launch-day question about a server browser is also not a reliable guide to the current menu.

Watch a co-op session
KYRSP33DY's launch gameplay is useful for seeing the co-op experience in motion. It is a creator video, not an official troubleshooting guide.
